Welcome!
My name is Grace Rex, and I’m running for Seat 6 on the new South (Timpanogos) School District Board. As Alpine School District in Utah County transitions into three separate districts, I’m committed to providing strong leadership and building unity in our schools. With years of experience on multiple Community Councils, the District Community Council, and the PTA, I’m ready to be a strong voice for students, teachers, and parents in our newly formed district.

Why I am Running for
School Board:

I am running for Seat 6 on the new School Board because I deeply care about our students and teachers and want to help build a strong and successful district. With decades of experience volunteering in education, I understand the challenges families, educators, and administrators face, and I am ready to help our district thrive.

For 25 years, I have guided my children through public schools, helping them to navigate and graduate. I have served on School Community Councils (SCC) across four different schools and held multiple leadership roles in PTA and PTSA, advocating for students, teachers, and parents. During COVID, I worked as a substitute teacher, gaining first-hand insight into the dedication and hard work of our educators.

Our new district needs leaders with experience navigating the challenges that come with public education, who understand and appreciate teachers, and who are willing to make tough decisions to create an outstanding district. I will work to ensure our schools are Student-Focused, Teacher-Supported, and Parent-Responsive, building a district that prioritizes success for every child.

Student-Focused
Grace understands that every student’s journey is unique. Through her experience supporting her children in programs like Advanced Learning Labs and IEPs for dyslexia, she knows the importance of providing resources for both high achievers and students who need additional support. She is committed to ensuring that the new district offers opportunities for success, tailored to students' needs.

Teacher-Supported
Having worked closely with teachers and administrators for years, Grace deeply values their dedication. As a member of School Community Councils (SCC) for Orem High School, Lakeridge Junior High, and Centennial Elementary—along with her past role on the District Community Council (DCC)—she has seen firsthand the impact strong teacher support has on student success. She believes the new district must prioritize educators by providing them with the tools, resources, and professional development they need to thrive.

Parent-Responsive
Grace has spent decades actively involving parents in education. Since serving as PTA President-Elect in 2008-2009, she has remained committed to ensuring parents have a voice in decisions that affect their children. Today, she leads Scholarships for OHS PTSA, manages the school play at Centennial Elementary, and directs the Centennial Singers Choir. She will work to increase transparency, improve communication, and make sure the new district supports parents and families.
