Grace Rex: A Dedicated Advocate for Education and Community

Grace Rex, alongside her husband Alan, has raised their 10 children in Orem for over 25 years. A graduate of BYU with a degree in History, Grace has a deep passion for education. All her children attended public schools, with seven graduating from Orem High School, while her youngest three currently attend Centennial Elementary, Lakeridge Junior High, and Orem High School.

Through her experience navigating various programs—from Advanced Learning Labs to IEPs for dyslexia—Grace understands the diverse needs of students, whether they are high achievers or require specialized support. She knows the importance of parent involvement in education and will work to make sure the new district supports parents and families.

Commitment to Community & Volunteer Work

Grace is a dedicated volunteer who humorously calls herself a “Professional Volunteer.” She actively serves on the School Community Councils (SCC) for Orem High School, Lakeridge Junior High, and Centennial Elementary. Until it was disbanded at the start of the 2024-25 school year, she was also a member of the District Community Council (DCC) for Alpine School District, representing Centennial Elementary, Cascade Elementary, and Hillcrest Elementary (before its merger with Scera Park into Centennial Elementary). Through these roles, she gained immense respect for the dedication of Alpine School District’s teachers and administrators. Grace strongly believes the new district should support educators at least as effectively as Alpine did.

Decades of PTA Leadership & Support for the Arts

Since serving as PTA President-Elect in 2008-2009, Grace has remained active in the PTA, currently leading Scholarships for OHS PTSA and managing the school play at Centennial Elementary. She also directs the Centennial Singers Choir, promoting arts education in public schools. Grace advocates for supporting arts in the new district, ensuring students receive a well-rounded education that nurtures creativity alongside academic achievement.
